In the Quarterly of December 1998, Whole No. 184, we published an abstract of the Civil War pension application papers of James A. Sparks who was born ca. 1838 and died on July 16, 1893. He was a member of Company K, 49th Regiment Kentucky Infantry in the Union Army. Association member Paula Gammell of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, has shared with us a record of his burial in the Oakwood Cemetery in Claiborne County, Tennessee, located east of Speedwell P.O. on Highway 63 in Speedwell.
