1840 CENSUS OF MICHIGAN

Michigan became a state in 1837, and when the 1840 census was taken, it was found that there were nine Sparks households within its borders. A record of these households is given below. The reader is referred to page 3329 of the present issue of the Quarterly for information regarding the 1840 census. A record of the one Sparks household appearing on the 1830 census of Michigan Territory appears on the preceding page. A record of the persons named Sparks (Sparkes and Spark) appearing on the 1850 census of Michigan was published in the Quarterly of Sep 1983 (Vol. XXXI, No. 3, Whole No. 123, pp. 2543-48).
