SPARKS HOUSEHOLDS APPEARING ON THE
1840 CENSUS OF WISCONSIN TERRITORY

Wisconsin was the 30th state to be admitted to the Union. This was in 1848. It had had territorial status from 1836 until 1848. Three Sparks households were recorded on the 1840 census of Wisconsin Territory, and these are given below. For an explanation of the 1840 census, see page 3329 of the present issue of the Quarterly. A record of the persons named Sparks (Sparkes and Spark) found on the 1850 census of Wisconsin was published in the Quarterly of March 1984 (Whole No. 125, pp. 2607-09).
