QUERY
Joel Dixon Wells, Rt. 2, Box 895, Hampton, Georgia (30228) is anxious to correspond with descendants of 9.1.2.5 William Sparks who was born ca. 1780 in Anson County, North Carolina, and died in Putnam County, Georgia, in 1816. He was married in Putnam County, Georgia, on September 10, 1812, to Martha Dixon, born in 1787, daughter of Nicholas and Martha Dixon. William Sparks was a son of 9.1.2 Charles and Gracilla Sparks. A record of his ancestry appeared in the December 1962 issue of the Quarterly, Whole No. 40.
William and Martha (Dixon) Sparks had two children: 9.1.2.5.1 Achilles Knight Sparks, born September 5, 1813, and 9.1.2.5.2 William McCurdy Sparks, born November 2, 1814. They were both born at Eatonton, Putnam County, Georgia. Following the death of their father in 1816, they became the wards of their uncle, Thomas Sparks. Their mother, Martha (Dixon) Sparks, married as her second husband, Daniel McKay. She died on May 20, 1834.
In the Quarterly of September 1958, Whole No. 23 an article appeared on the descendants of 9.1.2.5.1 Achilles Knight Sparks. Joel Dixon Wells is tracing the descendants of Nicholas Dixon, father of Martha (Dixon) Sparks, and wishes to correspond with the Sparks descendants.
